Hello and Welcome to Harry French!
My name is Matt and I'm the Hall Chair of Harry French 10/11. It is my responsibility to ensure that all of the residents in Harry French have an awesome time while they are studying here in Loughborough. As I’m sure you noticed on open days, Loughborough is not like other Universities and this is reflected in hall life as there is always something going on for you to get involved in, there really is something for everyone so don’t believe Loughborough is only for the sporty as there is so much more on offer.
Harry French offers action projects (voluntary work doing something enjoyable with your mates that looks wicked on your CV), RAG (raising and giving, including allsorts from city raids to skydives), and regular socials which all differ to suit every taste including the legendary Christmas and Summer balls along with an inter-hall sport calendar that ranges from the standard sports of football, rugby and hockey to canoeing, water polo, and rock-it-ball with just about everything between covered. Living in halls is an amazing experience; it’s about being part of a community, making the participation in the events we arrange essential to get the most out of your Loughborough experience.
Harry French is the fifth biggest hall with a great reputation for having a superb atmosphere and the best location for a university hall. Harry French is one of four Loughborough University halls that is located off campus, but don’t let this put you off. Situated just a five minutes walk from the students union we are closer than most of the halls on campus and the best thing is we are the hall with the easiest access to the town centre, making food shopping and walking home from town at 4am in January a whole lot more bearable! Harry French truly provides the best of both worlds.
We are a self catered hall so communication and social events are hugely important in getting to know other students living in Harry French. There will be regular socials and you will be kept informed of events mainly through the Harry French website and on Facebook. If your application for Harry French is accepted, join the Facebook group called “Harry French Freshers 2010.” If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me via e-mail:
psmfh@lboro.ac.uk, or drop me a message on Facebook (I’m on the freshers page) and I’ll get back to you straight away or put you in contact with the right person if I cannot help.
Harry French is fantastic place to live; it really is an opportunity that should not be passed on.
See you in September!
Matt Hallam
